David Gottesfeld is a Licensed Psychologist in private practice since 1991, with offices in Manhattan and White Plains, New York.
Dr. Gottesfeld specializes in comprehensive Psycho-Educational Testing and Neuropsychological Testing, as well as child, adolescent, and adult psychotherapy. He is recognized as an expert in the assessment, differential diagnosis, and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults with learning disabilities, inattention and executive dysfunction, and other developmental disabilities. After graduating from Rutgers University in 1984 Dr. Gottesfeld attended Columbia University Teachers College where he was schooled in Cognitive Therapy, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), and Ericksonian Hypnosis while earning a Masters Degree in The Psycho-Social Study of Human Movement (Applied Sports Psychology) in 1986.
Dr. Gottesfeld then matriculated to Yeshiva University’s Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology where he earned a second Masters Degree on his way to receiving his Doctorate in School and Child Psychology in 1991.
Upon graduating, Dr. Gottesfeld worked as the Clinical Director at the Lorge School in Manhattan from 1991-1993. He was then hired as the lower school psychologist at the Windward School in White Plains from 1993-2002. He was also the Chief Psychologist at Pediatric Neurological Associates in White Plains from 1993 to 2007.
In addition to his private practice, teaching, and supervisory responsibilities, Dr. Gottesfeld is a frequent participant in Committee on Special Education meetings in the tri-state area, has testified at numerous Board of Education Impartial Hearings on behalf of his patients, and he consults with local private and public schools.
He has presented various workshops at the Windward School Teacher Training Institute, and lectured extensively on differential diagnosis, psycho-educational assessment, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disabilities and anxiety amongst children, adolescents, and young adults.
Dr. Gottesfeld has a broad circle of distinguished physicians, psychologists, psychotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists, as well as skilled tutors and acclaimed school placement counselors in the tri-state area to whom he refers students and their families regularly.
